Two Die, Two Injured In Anambra Tanker Fire Explosion
Two people have died while two others sustained injuries in a tanker fire explosion along the Agu-Awka axis of the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway in Awka, Anambra State.

The incident occurred at about 11.26pm on Thursday, August 20, in front of Jezco Fuel Station and involved a fully loaded diesel tanker belonging to Shafa Filling Station and a 911 truck carrying bags of animal feed.
According to the Anambra State Fire Service, the tanker reportedly suffered brake failure before colliding with the truck, triggering the fire.
The Chief Fire Officer, Chiketa Chukwudi, who was at the scene, confirmed that two people died in the accident, while two others were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.
He said firefighters promptly mobilised to the scene and worked to bring the fire under control and prevent further escalation.
Chiketa commended the firefighters for their swift response and urged motorists to exercise extreme caution, particularly when approaching sloping sections of roads and when transporting petroleum products.
He also advised motorists and truck operators to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained, with particular attention paid to braking systems, to prevent avoidable accidents.
The Fire Service assured residents that the situation had been brought under control and urged the public to remain calm and go about their normal activities.
