Sowore Reacts As Adeleke Presents His Certificate Of Return to Tinubu After A Closed-door Meeting

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has reacted to the meeting between Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Sowore criticised Adeleke after the governor visited Tinubu on Thursday, August 20, shortly after receiving his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Adeleke, who was re-elected in the August 15 Osun governorship election, met with Tinubu behind closed doors and presented his certificate of return to the president.

Reacting to the development via X, Sowore described Adeleke as someone who had chosen Tinubu as his preferred presidential candidate. He also accused the governor of reaching a political understanding with the president.

Sowore further linked the meeting to the violence recorded during the Osun election. He alleged that nearly 50 people had been killed in election-related violence in the state, including a person he claimed was killed on Wednesday.

The AAC chieftain also criticised Adeleke’s relationship with his cousin, popular singer Davido, while condemning what he described as the political activities surrounding the election.

Sowore ended his statement by expressing his opposition to the political developments and used the hashtag #RevolutionNOW.

The meeting between Adeleke and Tinubu came days after the governor defeated the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to secure another term in office. INEC issued Adeleke his certificate of return before he visited the Presidential Villa.
