“I Choose to Close This Chapter With Grace”- Gospel Artist Asu Ekiye Announces End of His 28-Year Marriage

Gospel artist Asu Ekiye has announced the end of his 28-year marriage to Kunemofa Asu, revealing that the marriage ended a year ago.
Ekiye said he chose to make the announcement later after giving himself time to gain perspective, clarity and acceptance of the deeply personal transition.

Gospel artist Asu Ekiye has announced the end of his 28-year marriage to his wife, Kunemofa Asu, revealing that the union actually ended a year ago.

Ekiye made the announcement in a public notice shared on his social media page, saying he had deliberately waited before speaking publicly about the separation.

 

“After 28 years of a deeply personal journey of growth, experience and reflection, I wish to announce, with a profound sense of sobriety and quiet resignation, that my marriage to KUNEMOFA ASU has come to an end.”

The gospel singer described the marriage as a significant chapter of his life, saying he had chosen to move forward with “grace, gratitude and dignity” while looking ahead to a new season.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this marriage ended a year ago. I have deliberately chosen to make this announcement only now, after allowing time to bring the perspective, clarity and quiet acceptance that such a deeply personal transition deserves,” he stated.

Ekiye signed off the announcement as “The Prince of the Niger Delta.”

The announcement has since generated reactions online, with some social media users expressing surprise over the end of a marriage that lasted nearly three decades.
