2027: Labour, ADC confirm receipt of INEC access codes 

The Labour Party, LP, and African Democratic Congress, ADC, have confirmed their receipt of  secure access codes from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, enabling them to begin uploading the names and particulars of their candidates for the 2027 general election.

The development marks a key milestone in the electoral process, as political parties commence compliance with INEC’s timetable for candidate nominations through its dedicated online portal.

Confirming the development, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party had received its access credentials and was prepared to begin the submission of candidates’ details.

Similarly, Labour Party National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, disclosed that the party had also received its INEC access codes, paving the way for the electronic upload of its candidates.

The issuance of access codes forms part of INEC’s standard nomination process, allowing registered political parties to securely submit the names and particulars of candidates contesting various elective offices in the 2027 general election.

However, political observers note that receiving the access codes does not signify the conclusion of candidate selection or party primaries. Rather, it provides parties with access to INEC’s nomination portal, where details of duly nominated candidates are uploaded in line with the Commission’s electoral timetable.

The development comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general election, with internal consultations, primaries, and alliance discussions expected to shape the final list of candidates in the months ahead.
