Putin Reveals Ukraine Proposed Temporary Halt To Long-Range Attacks, Says Russia Considering Proposal

Russian President Vladimir Putin has disclosed that Ukraine proposed a mutual halt to long-range strikes and a meeting between the leadership of both countries, saying Moscow is considering the proposals but believes such an arrangement would benefit Kyiv more than Russia.

Putin made the remarks while commenting on ongoing contacts between the two sides, noting that discussions have taken place through different channels.

According to the Russian leader, “Yes, there have been contacts in different directions, I don’t see any proposal here. There have been proposals on a meeting with Kiev regime leader. The proposal to stop hostilities at least shortly along line of combat confrontation. This is now new either.”

He said the proposals were not entirely new and suggested they were driven by Ukraine’s assessment of the current military situation.

Putin further revealed that one of the proposals under consideration involves both countries suspending long-range strikes on each other’s territory.

“There are also other propositions, I am ready to name a few, for example stopping strikes in the territory from both sides and it’s clear why these proposals have been made. Because our counter-strike within Ukraine is much more powerful and sensitive. It leads to more consequences for Kiev,” he said.

The Russian president maintained that Russia’s retaliatory strikes inside Ukraine have had a greater impact, arguing that this explains Kyiv’s interest in a reciprocal suspension of attacks.

Although Putin said he is prepared to consider the proposals, he indicated that, in his view, any temporary halt in long-range strikes or hostilities would provide greater strategic advantages to Ukraine than to Russia.

His comments come amid continued fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces, with diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire and broader peace negotiations remaining stalled.

Previously, SaharaReporters reported that at least seven people were killed and 38 others injured in renewed Russian attacks across several regions of Ukraine, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In a statement issued on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Zelensky said Russian guided aerial bomb strikes on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia killed five people and injured 26 others.

“Russian guided aerial bomb strikes on Zaporizhzhia killed 5 people and injured 26 others,” the Ukrainian leader stated.

He further disclosed that another attack in the central Poltava region resulted in two deaths and 12 injuries, including six children.

“In Poltava, tragically, 2 people were killed and 12 were injured as a result of the shelling, including 6 children. My condolences to their families and loved ones,” Zelensky said.

Beyond Zaporizhzhia and Poltava, several other regions across Ukraine reportedly came under attack as Russian forces intensified their aerial campaign.

According to the Ukrainian president, the Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Sumy, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, and Rivne regions were also targeted during the latest wave of strikes.

“The Russians launched about 2,200 attack drones, more than 1,800 guided aerial bombs, and 87 missiles of various types against Ukraine in one week,” he stated.
