I Stopped Praying” – Amaechi Drops Revelation on How Losing APC Ticket to Tinubu affected his Faith

In the wake of his loss in the APC presidential primary, former Rivers State governor and minister of transport Rotimi Amaechi reportedly made a deeply personal confession, as reported by Arise TV on May 23. The defeat at the hands of President Bola Tinubu caused Amaechi to have a spiritual crisis, which he discussed openly in an interview he gave to Arise TV.

Instead than feeling sorrow for himself, Amaechi expressed deep worry for the nation as a whole in response to the loss. He was occupied with the ongoing struggles of Nigerians rather than grieving his own death. He reached a spiritual dead end as a result of his disillusionment and started to wonder why the country’s problems were interminable despite the prayers of its residents.

The ex-minister freely acknowledged that he stopped attending his spiritual director’s scheduled prayer meetings as a result of this inner conflict. “God, do you honestly believe that Nigerians should continue to suffer?'” I prayed, starting with this question. Amaechi admitted in the interview that it had an impact on her faith.

People took note of his extended absence from prayer. At some point, his spiritual director confronted him and demanded to know why he no longer attended their sessions. The spiritual leader severely reprimanded Amaechi after listening to his grievances and questions about the effectiveness of prayer in light of the nation’s hardship. People like the former governor don’t have the right to challenge God’s decisions or will, he said to the governor.
