Nigerian Army Officer Killed In Auto Crash Along Kaduna-Zaria Highway

Military and security sources said that the tragic incident happened on May 21 near the Julius Berger gate in Jaji, Kaduna State.

Asenior officer of the Nigerian Army, Major S. Sayyadi of the Headquarters Infantry Corps Command (ICC), has lost his life in a fatal road accident along the Kaduna–Zaria Expressway near Jaji Military Cantonment.

Military and security sources said that the tragic incident happened on May 21 near the Julius Berger gate in Jaji, Kaduna State.

According to the sources, the officer was driving along the expressway when his vehicle reportedly rammed into a Sino truck attempting to enter the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) railway construction site located around the New Barracks axis of the cantonment.

The impact of the collision was said to have left the senior officer with critical injuries, particularly severe trauma to the head.

Emergency response teams from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) and the Infantry Corps Command were immediately deployed to the scene following the accident.

However, medical personnel reportedly confirmed Major Sayyadi dead shortly after efforts were made to stabilise him.

His body was thereafter evacuated from the crash scene and moved to a medical facility before being transported to Katsina State in a military ambulance for burial.

Sources said the late officer was buried in Katsina State in accordance with Islamic rites.
