2027 Guber: Senate President Godswill Akpabio Endorses Governor Umo Eno for Second Term

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has thrown his full weight behind the re-election bid of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, describing the governor’s first term in office as highly impactful and deserving of continued public support.

Senator Akpabio gave the endorsement on Monday, May 11, 2026, when Governor Umo Eno paid him a formal consultation visit at his residence in Uyo.

Speaking during the closed-door meeting, the Senate President commended Governor Eno for his quality leadership, visible infrastructural developments, and people-oriented programmes since assuming office in 2023. He described the governor’s performance as impressive and worthy of consolidation through a second term.

“I want to commend you for the good work you are doing in Akwa Ibom State,” Akpabio was quoted as saying. “Your first term has been impactful, and I believe the people of the state should support you to continue and build on the solid foundation you have laid.”

The Senate President further urged party stakeholders, leaders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the state to rally behind Governor Eno and all other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Umo Eno was accompanied on the visit by a high-powered delegation that included:
* His Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi
* Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong
* Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah
* State Chairman of the APC, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo
* Other critical stakeholders and leaders of the party from the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

The visit is being viewed as a significant political move that strengthens Governor Eno’s position within the APC as the 2027 gubernatorial election season gathers momentum. Political observers believe the endorsement by the Senate President, who is a major political figure in the South-South region, will further consolidate support for the governor’s second-term ambition.
