OKOROCHA REJECTS CONSENSUS DECREE, DECLARES WAR ON UZODIMMA’S SENATE BID

The political rivalry in Imo West has reached a flashpoint as Senator Rochas Okorocha, officially entered the race for the APC senatorial ticket, directly challenging Governor Hope Uzodimma.

This move sets the stage for a high-stakes primary battle, defying the consensus narrative previously established by regional power brokers.

Okorocha’s purchase of the nomination form signals a refusal to concede the seat, reigniting a long-standing power struggle between the two political heavyweights within the Orlu Zone.

In a contrasting move to enforce unity, the Orlu Political Consultative Assembly (OPOCA) has issued a sweeping ban on all other senatorial aspirants, declaring Governor Uzodimma the unopposed consensus candidate for 2027.

Citing Uzodimma’s legislative experience and his performance as governor, OPOCA labeled their decision “irrevocable” and warned that any contender running against him would be viewed as acting against the zone’s collective interest.

The group aims to streamline the APC’s path to victory, though Okorocha’s defiance suggests that a “total consensus” remains far from a reality.
