A new political support group, Ondo State Professionals for Tinubu, popularly known as BTO Professionals for PBAT (BPP), has been officially inaugurated in Akure, the Ondo State capital, with a strong commitment to mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration ceremony attracted professionals from various sectors and associations across the 18 local government areas of the state, including stakeholders from the legal, medical, engineering, education, media, business and public service communities.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Director-General of the group, Mr. Segun Akeju, popularly known as “Pillar,” said the formation of the body became necessary to deepen political participation among professionals and ensure that governance remains people-oriented and development-driven.
Akeju, who described the initiative as a movement for progressive-minded professionals, stressed the need for members to take the mobilisation campaign beyond Akure and spread across every part of Ondo State.
According to him, the group was established with a clear mandate to galvanise support for the administration and re-election of President Tinubu while also promoting policies capable of enhancing national growth and economic stability.
He maintained that politics should not be abandoned to a few individuals driven solely by personal ambition, noting that professionals have a critical role to play in shaping the future of the country through constructive political engagement.
“Politics affects every aspect of our lives, from the economy to security, education and infrastructure. It should not be left in the hands of a select few who are only interested in personal gains. Professionals must rise to contribute meaningfully to governance and political development,” he said.
Akeju further disclosed that the group would immediately commence strategic mobilisation across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State, with plans to engage artisans, market women, youths, civil servants and community leaders on the achievements and policies of the Tinubu administration.
He added that the support group would also focus on political education, grassroots sensitisation and strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) structure across the state.
The Acting Director-General commended the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for sponsoring and supporting the initiative, describing him as a visionary leader committed to youth empowerment, progressive politics and sustainable development in Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
He noted that the minister’s leadership style and contributions to governance have continued to inspire many young professionals and political stakeholders across the country.
Some members of the newly inaugurated group who spoke at the event expressed optimism that the platform would serve as a unifying force for professionals willing to contribute to nation-building and democratic consolidation.
They pledged their readiness to work collectively towards ensuring effective mobilisation and voter awareness ahead of future elections.
The inauguration also featured the unveiling of the group’s operational plans, strategic committees and mobilisation structure aimed at expanding its reach across the state.
Political observers at the gathering described the emergence of the group as a significant development in the political landscape of Ondo State, especially with the increasing involvement of professionals in grassroots political activities and policy advocacy.
The event ended with a renewed call on members to remain committed to the ideals of progressive governance, unity and inclusive political participation in support of President Tinubu’s administration and the continued growth of the nation.
