Bandits Torture University Of Jos Student To Brink Of Death, Demand N30million Ransom In Disturbing Video
The attackers, who reportedly intercepted the victims along the highway, are demanding a ransom of N30 million for Arum’s release, according to information gathered by SaharaReporters.
Suspected terrorists have brutally tortured a student of the University of Jos, identified as John Arum, after abducting him alongside six others while travelling from Jos, Plateau State, to Kaduna State.
The attackers, who reportedly intercepted the victims along the highway, are demanding a ransom of N30 million for Arum’s release, according to information gathered by SaharaReporters.
In a shocking video obtained by SaharaReporters, Arum is seen being mercilessly beaten by two of the bandits.
The assailants repeatedly flogged him with a large stick in what appears to be a calculated attempt to inflict maximum pain and terror.
Despite his desperate pleas for mercy, the attackers showed no restraint.
At one point in the footage, they placed a heavy stone on his back, forced him to lie face-down, and pressed a rifle against his head while continuing the assault.
“Please don’t kill me… I’m begging you,”
Arum could be heard saying in the video, his voice trembling under the weight of fear and pain.
The brutality did not stop there. After several minutes of continuous torture, the bandits ordered him to appeal publicly for ransom, even as one of them kept beating him.
In the video, Arum, visibly weak and in distress, said: “We are on our way from Jos to Kaduna, and they kidnapped seven of us. Now they are demanding N30 million before they can release me. Please find the money and bring it.”
SaharaReporters gathered the video was recorded using Arum’s own mobile phone by the kidnappers and subsequently sent to his coursemates via a group chat, apparently to pressure his family, friends, and the public into raising the ransom.
The condition of the other six victims abducted alongside him remains unclear as of the time of filing this report.
It is also not immediately known if contact has been established with their families or if separate ransom demands have been issued for them.
Meanwhile, concerned Nigerians have continued to express outrage over the incident, calling on the government and security forces to take urgent and decisive action to secure the victims’ release and bring the perpetrators to justice.
