Golf Legend Tiger Woods Arrested After Car Crash In Florida, Released On Bail

According to Sky Sports, Woods was taken into custody on Friday after his vehicle overturned while attempting to overtake a trailer on a road near his residence in Florida.

Golf icon Tiger Woods has been released on bail after he was arrested in Florida, United States, for allegedly driving under the influence of a substance, following a road crash.

According to Sky Sports, Woods was taken into custody on Friday after his vehicle overturned while attempting to overtake a trailer on a road near his residence in Florida.

The 15-time major champion reportedly escaped the accident without injuries. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the incident was also unharmed.

Authorities said officers who arrived at the crash scene observed that Woods appeared “lethargic,” raising suspicions of impairment believed to be linked to medication.

A breathalyser test conducted at the scene reportedly returned negative results, but the golfer declined to provide a urine sample requested by investigators.

Woods was detained for approximately eight hours at a county jail before he was released on bond in the early hours of Saturday.

Martin County Sheriff, John Budensiek, said the golfer displayed “signs of impairment” after the crash, prompting officers to carry out roadside tests before placing him under arrest.

Budensiek said Woods was charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test, stressing that the offences are misdemeanours and not felonies.

The sheriff also disclosed that Woods was travelling at high speed before his vehicle tipped onto its side and slid along the road before coming to a halt.

The speed limit on the road where the incident occurred is 30 miles per hour.

Photographs taken at the scene showed the vehicle lying on the driver’s side, underscoring the severity of the crash.

The incident adds to a series of traffic-related cases involving Woods.

In 2017, the golf star was arrested in Florida on suspicion of driving under the influence before later pleading guilty to reckless driving.

He also survived a near-fatal accident in 2021 in California that left him with multiple leg injuries and required extensive surgery.

Meanwhile, the latest crash occurred when Woods attempted to overtake another vehicle but clipped its trailer, causing his car to overturn.
