EKSU Alumni Storm Ise, Ikere in Massive Rally for Oyebanji’s Re-election Bid
A vibrant wave of support swept through Ise-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti as members of the Ekiti State University, EKSU Alumni Solidarity Group embarked on a high-energy local government campaign tour in backing of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji ahead of his re-election bid.
The colourful street rallies, marked by music, banners and enthusiastic engagement with residents, drew large crowds across the two towns, reinforcing growing grassroots momentum for the governor, who is himself an alumnus of EKSU.
Speaking during the tour, the Global President of the EKSU Alumni Association, Amb. Seyi Idowu, represented by the Global Vice President, Mrs. Folasade Olusegun, stressed the importance of solidarity among alumni in advancing collective interests.
He noted that the endorsement of Oyebanji aligns with the resolution of the association’s Global Executive Council to support one of its own.
He described the governor as a worthy ambassador of the institution whose leadership reflects the values and vision of EKSU, adding that his re-election would further strengthen the alumni’s pride and influence.
Also lending his voice, the Director-General of the Solidarity Group, Engr. Dipo Bamisaye, who was represented by Mr. Biyi Fasoyin, lauded Governor Oyebanji’s performance over the past four years.
He highlighted strides recorded in infrastructure, public service delivery and inclusive governance, describing the administration as people-focused and responsive.
According to him, the governor has demonstrated purposeful leadership and commitment to the welfare of Ekiti people, urging residents of Ise and Ikere to reward what he termed “proven performance” with another mandate at the polls.
“Governor Oyebanji has laid a solid foundation for sustainable development. What is needed now is continuity to consolidate on these gains,” Fasoyin said, while addressing cheering supporters.
Members of the Solidarity Group, whose participation in the campaign tour was fully funded by committed alumni, expressed strong confidence in the Oyebanji administration. They cited visible development projects and improved governance as key reasons behind their unwavering support.
Residents in both Ise-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti turned out in large numbers to welcome the campaign train, with many pledging continued support for the governor’s second-term ambition.
The tour forms part of a broader grassroots mobilisation effort by the EKSU Alumni Solidarity Group to galvanise support across Ekiti State, as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the next gubernatorial election.
