Trump Mocks UK Military, Calls British Aircraft Carriers ‘Toys’ Amid Middle-East Tensions
Speaking during a recent engagement, Trump derided what he described as delayed and ineffective British support, claiming the UK had offered to deploy its aircraft carriers only after the conclusion of hostilities.
United States President, Donald Trump has mocked the United Kingdom’s military capabilities, dismissing its aircraft carriers as “toys” while boasting about the strength and speed of American military operations in the Middle East.
Speaking during a recent engagement, Trump derided what he described as delayed and ineffective British support, claiming the UK had offered to deploy its aircraft carriers only after the conclusion of hostilities.
“The UK said — this is three weeks ago — we’ll send our aircraft carriers, which aren’t the best aircraft carriers, by the way. They’re toys compared to what we have,” Trump said.
“But we’ll send our aircraft carrier when the war is over. I said, ‘Oh, that’s wonderful, thank you very much, don’t bother, we don’t need it.’”
The president went further to tout the capability of the U.S. military, insisting that American forces had outperformed expectations in the unnamed conflict.
“We estimated it would take approximately four to six weeks to achieve our mission, and we’re way ahead of schedule,” he said. “If you look at what we’ve done in terms of the destruction of that country, I mean we’re way ahead.”
Trump also claimed that the opposing country’s naval forces had been effectively wiped out within days.
“They have no navy, and they had good ships. One hundred and fifty-four ships have been shot down and are resting very nicely at the bottom of the sea,” he said. “And we did that in a matter of less than a week because we have the greatest military in the world by far — nobody even close.”
Neither the British government nor officials from the UK Ministry of Defence have issued an immediate response to Trump’s comments as of the time of filing this report.
