Wike Reacts to Political Thugs Attack on his PDP Supporters in Oyo State
Nyesom Wike through his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka has reacted to reported attack on his loyalists in Oyo State.
Lere Olayinka in a short statement he released on his X account, confirmed that former deputy governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarum, the leader of Wike’s PDP faction in Oyo State and other stakeholders were attacked in the former deputy governor’s house by suspected political thugs.
Lere Olayinka blamed the attack on the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde whom he accused of sponsoring the attack on the Wike’s PDP faction in Oyo State in view of ensuring that the faction does not hold a parallel Congress at the local government areas of the state.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also confirmed the attack on the former deputy governor of Oyo State, reporting that the venues where the Wike PDP faction in Oyo State were holding their LGA Congress, were invaded by suspected political thugs, disrupting the Congress and injuring a few in the process.
One of the members of the Wike PDP faction in Oyo State, Julius Adekunle described the attack as planned, noting that it occured across all the venues for the Congress by their faction.
It was a planned attack because the hoodlums touched many of the venues across the state”, he stated
Reports from Ogbomoso North, Ibarapa Central, Akinyele, Ibadan North LGAs, among others, showed that not less than 10 of our members were attacked”.
He added that property including vehicles belonging to the members of the Wike’s faction were vandalized by the thugs.
Many vehicles and other property belonging to our members were also vandalised.
The hoodlums also invaded the house of our party leader, Chief Hazeem Gbolarunmi, at Bodija, where property worth millions of naira was vandalised”.
