Kano state House of Assembly Passes a Motion Over Kwankwaso’s Indictment by US Congress
The Kano state House of Assembly has passed a motion seeking the urgent intervention of governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on the indictment of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso by the US Congress.
Concerned about the magnitude of the proposed sanctions by the US Congress against Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso which includes visa ban and assets seizure, the members of the Kano state House of Assembly appealed to governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to urgently deploy all diplomatic arsenal within his disposal to thwart the implementation of the proposed sanctions.
Honourable Usman Tasiu who represents Kiru constituency during Tuesday plenary, in his motion, described former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as a sincere and committed public servant who has dedicated his life to fostering peace and unity in the country.
He stated that the proposed US Congressional bill which accuses Kwankwaso of abetting religious viólence in Nigeria, contradicts Kwankwaso’s actual public records.
Kwankwaso is dedicated public servant whose leadership has positively impacted the lives of Kano residents.”

He (Kwankwaso) has consistently acted as a unifying figure in Nigeria and has maintained a strong stance against all forms of violence,” Tasiu added.
Following the motion by Usman Tasiu, the speaker of Kano state House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore declared that the members of the Kano state House of Assembly have unanimously adopted the motion after the had deliberated on it.
Recall that following the report of Kwankwaso featuring among names of Nigerians in a bill proposed by Riley Moore and Chris Smith for sanctions over alleged religious viólence in Nigeria, the Kwankwasiyya movement which Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is the founder and national leader, outrightly dismissed the allegation, citing that Kwankwaso stands against religious viólence and has for decades advocated for religious freedom and tolerance, promoting education as a means of eradicating radicalism and extremism.
