I Will Never Stop Having Children – Obasanjo declares

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has pledged his support for the advocacy of children’s welfare. He made the commitment while receiving members of the executive council of the Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN), led by Dr. Ekanem Ekure, in Abeokuta on Monday.

Obasanjo encouraged paediatricians to remain compassionate and dedicated in their work, emphasizing the critical role they play in safeguarding the health and well-being of children. He described paediatric care as a profession that requires both medical expertise and deep empathy, noting that doctors must understand the experiences of young patients who may struggle to articulate their symptoms.

Reflecting on his personal life, Obasanjo revealed that he would never stop having children, as his children and grandchildren continue to expand the family. “I will never stop having children because when I stop, my children will not stop, and when my children stop, my grandchildren will not stop,” he said.

He expressed his readiness to actively support and join the advocacy efforts of paediatricians, highlighting their unique responsibility in dealing directly with matters of life and death concerning children.
