They’re Afraid of My Influence’ — SSA, Fadairo Reacts to Assault Allegation”
Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Community Engagement (Central), Mr. Oluwafemi Fadairo, has denied allegations that he assaulted the APC Ward 8 Chairman, Mr. Oluwadare Olanrewaju, describing the claims as “fabricated lies targeted at destroying my political ambition.”
Speaking with Newsmen in a lengthy reaction on Saturday, Fadairo insisted he had no physical involvement in any altercation and accused the Ward Chairman, Mr. Oluwadare Olanrewaju of attempting to divert bags of rice and other items distributed during Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s thank-you tour.
“There was no day I beat him or touched him,” Fadairo said.
“They are cooking up lies because they know I am popular in the ward and they want to weaken my political structure, but they have failed.”
Fadairo explained that the Governor provided 100 bags of rice and ₦1 million per ward, with clear instructions on how the items should be distributed among APC leaders, coordinators and grassroots members.
He claimed that the trouble started when the Ward Chairman allegedly tried to alter the beneficiary list to favour his “personal boys” and exclude unit coordinators who were meant to benefit.
“He insisted on removing the coordinators so he could divert part of the items,”Fadairo alleged.
“The counselor and the coordinators caught him trying to take bags of rice to unknown boys. That was how confusion started. I was not even there.”
According to Fadairo, coordinators in Ward 8 confronted the chairman after noticing discrepancies in the list and accused him of trying to “shortchange the ward.”
He also alleged that Olanrewaju previously attempted similar manipulation until other party leaders intervened.
“This is not the first time he has tried to play games with party items,” the SSA said.
“The people resisted him. That is why he is now turning around claiming assault.”
Fadairo further stated that investigations by security agencies showed no proof that he assaulted the ward leader.
“The petition he submitted could not stand. When he was asked to identify who beat him, he could not name anyone,” he claimed.
“Police and DSS questioned everybody. Nobody indicted me.”
He insisted the entire allegation was a desperate political ploy aimed at damaging his reputation and derailing his ambition.
“They know I command 80% support in the ward,” Fadairo said.
“This is a cheap, childish attempt to stain my name because they are afraid of my rising influence.”
When asked about the police confirmation, the Public Relations Officer of NPF Zone 17, Mr. Desmond Sosanya, told Roving Reporters that he was not aware the case was reported at the zone.
He, however, promised to provide an update by Monday.
