Presidency Decides Gbajabiamila’s Fate Over Alleged Betrayal Of Trust

Former speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives and current chief of staff to president Bola Ahmed, Femi Gbajabiamila faces the axe from the presidency over his alleged betrayal of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s trust via his office.

A source privy to the development claims that Femi Gbajabiamila soiled his relationship with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and has consequently lost his place in the heart of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu who prior to this time, counted Femi Gbajabiamila a trusted ally as well as the next governor of Lagos State.

According to the source, the president reportedly discovered that his chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila allegedly sold appointments into president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government; an act president Tinubu considers as sabotage and betrayal of the long-age trust he has for him.

As result, president Tinubu had wanted to relieve him his position as his chief of staff and reassign him to head a ministry but for the intervention of Remi Tinubu who advised against such a move citing infighting and possible escalation.

Hence, while Femi Gbajabiamila remains the chief of staff, his influence and responsibility are very minimal, making him an officer without a portfolio.

Also, his governorship ambition has been written off by the presidency. Prior to the development, Femi Gbajabiamila was being tipped for the office of the governor of Lagos State.

Following his relegation, Seyi Tinubu and the speaker of the Lagos State Assembly, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa have been elevated in the pecking order of who becomes the governor of Lagos State.

Femi Gbajabiamila is just a figure head Chief Of Staff, he’s just operating in the villa based on vibes, relationship between him and the President isn’t as solid as before, he sold appointments and the President figured out. His ambition to be Governor of Lagos is dead too”, the source stated

Even though Femi Gbajabiamila is desperately trying to regain the trust of the president and had superfluously explained the reason behind his alleged offence, the president has seemingly shut the door against him and his governorship ambition.

While he remains the chief of staff, he is unlikely going to retain such an alleviated position should president Tinubu be reelected in 2027.

Sources claim that the former speaker might be regretting his decision to resign his membership to the House of Representatives because of his current position which has now endangered his political career progression under the Tinubu’s political organization.
