‘Natasha is getting death threats’ — 2Baba warns family not to interfere in his marriage

2Baba and his wife Natasha Osawaru.
Innocent Idibia, the Nigerian singer popularly known as 2Baba, has called out his family for interfering in his marriage, alleging that his wife Natasha Osawuru is now receiving death threats.

The singer’s statement comes in response to a petition filed by his family to the inspector-general of police, accusing Natasha of assault, bigamy, and financial misconduct.

The petition alleged she physically assaulted 2Baba in the United Kingdom and Abuja and withheld his personal documents, including his passport.

In a now-viral video, 2Baba rejected his family’s narrative, arguing that their attempt to “save” him is instead destroying his life and “unfairly tarnishing Natasha’s character”.

“I’m a grown man, and I believe I have the right to be with whoever I want to be with,” he asserted, emphasizing that he is “perfectly okay” and recently performed at a show in Abuja.

“I have the right to be with whoever I want to be with. My family, who claim they want to save me, have actually destroyed me and damaged someone’s daughter’s character. Natasha is getting death threats right now,” he said.

“Yes, Natasha and I had a quarrel, which is normal between couples, but this is getting out of hand. I’m perfectly okay; people see me outside. I recently did my show in Abuja, and many people were there.

“How do you say you are trying to save someone while messing up my life? This is unacceptable, and I’m not going to take it lightly anymore. This is not right in any way. Natasha is getting death threats; it’s unfair and not nice. I’m not a child. I’m a peaceful person, but this is getting to me too much. My family did this with Annie, too.

“We all have our differences, but this has become dangerous. I’m totally devastated. Natasha is getting death threats, and they have ruined her whole life. Things are not done like this. In the name of saving me, you are destroying another person’s life.”

2Baba described the petition and marital crisis rumours as “fabricated lies and stories,” dismissing them as “nonsense”.

He said he “is deeply hurt and stressed” by the situation and promised to speak on matters he has been quiet about in the coming days.

He appealed for an end to the “death threats and harassment,” urging his family and others to stay out of his private life and allow him and Natasha to be.

“I don’t know if my family understands the damage they are causing. I have the right to be with anyone. I’m deeply hurt about what’s happening right now,” he added.

“Everything my family and people I have worked with said is all fabricated lies and stories. In the next couple of days, I will open up about a lot of things I have been quiet about.

“I understand the concern, but I’m perfectly alright. It’s ridiculous and equivalent to killing somebody with this tag of me being mentally unstable. This has to stop. I beg everyone to have some human conscience and stop the death threats and harassment.

“Writing petitions and saying all sorts of nonsense is not fair. I also want to tell my family to stay out of my private and personal life. Just let me be.

“Natasha has been hurt terribly. You are ruining my home. Please, just let us be — that is my simple appeal to everyone.”

The controversy began when 2Baba’s former managers Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan appeared on Daddy Freeze’s live stream.

They accused Natasha of seeking “full control” over the singer’s finances and career.

The situation escalated when 2Baba suddenly joined the live session and forcefully told the former managers to stop discussing his private life.

However, shortly after his intervention, loud arguing between him and Natasha became audible off-camera.

Their voices grew increasingly heated before the live broadcast was abruptly ended.
