Nigerian Army Launches Nationwide Onslaught, Kills Seven Terrorists, Arrests 27 Suspects
According to military statement on its X account on Sunday, the operations have been relentless, with troops recording significant breakthroughs against insurgents, bandits, and economic saboteurs.
Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly killed seven terrorists, arrested 27 suspects, and recovered weapons, ammunition, and stolen crude oil in multiple coordinated strikes within the last 48 hours.
The operations, which cut across the North East, North West, North Central, and South-South regions, followed fresh marching orders from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, who recently visited the North East Theatre to reawaken troops’ fighting spirit and reinvigorate ongoing counterterrorism campaigns.

In Borno State, troops of Sector 3, Operation HADIN KAI, carried out a cordon-and-search mission in Anguwan Church, Monguno, arresting 12 individuals suspected of belonging to Boko Haram’s logistics and intelligence networks.
Similarly, troops of 192 Battalion ambushed Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, killing three terrorists and recovering an AK-47 rifle with ammunition.
Another operation by 25 Brigade, Damboa, reportedly neutralised a terrorist attempting to infiltrate troops’ location under false pretence of being a civilian on reconnaissance.
In the North West, troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE stormed a notorious terrorist hideout in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two insurgents linked to recent attacks on local communities.
Troops in Plateau State also arrested four suspects over the killing of two civilians in Riyom Local Government Area.
In the North Central zone, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Niger State gunned down a terrorist scout and seized a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and other operational materials.
Meanwhile, troops have intensified anti-oil theft and anti-illegal mining operations in the South-South region. In Akwa Ibom State, soldiers of 2 Brigade arrested three illegal miners engaged in black sand trading.
In Abia State, 144 Battalion discovered an illegal refining site containing over 1,000 litres of stolen crude.
Similarly, 34 Artillery Brigade troops uncovered another refining hub in Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State, seizing six drums of crude and a canoe used for transport.
In Delta State, 90 Amphibious Battalion troops arrested three suspects, including one dressed in fake military uniform, at a snap checkpoint in Sapele.
Items recovered included counterfeit military ranks, phones, and charms.
The suspects are undergoing interrogation.
Security observers say these simultaneous offensives demonstrate a clear shift in the Army’s operational posture under Lt. Gen. Shaibu, signalling a more aggressive, intelligence-driven approach to reclaiming ungoverned spaces and dismantling criminal cartels.
A senior army officer told SaharaReporters that “the days of reactive operations are over. The Chief has ordered a full-scale offensive — we’re taking the fight to their hideouts and cutting off their logistics completely.”
The army, in a statement, reaffirmed its commitment to “destroying all threats to national security” and urged citizens to continue providing credible information to aid ongoing operations.
“The Nigerian Army will remain unyielding in its resolve to protect citizens, restore lasting peace, and defend the sovereignty of Nigeria,” the statement read.
