Adekunle Gold Faces Backlash For Saying Fuji is “bigger than Music “ Releases New Album

He made a post on his x page announcing his New Album coming up on Oct 3rd he said “I’m seated on a chair you’ll find at any Lagos Owanbe, but here it’s my throne. The blue behind me is royal, the red on me is power, and the word ‘Fuji’ holds the story of where we come from.

I named this album after an entire genre because Fuji is bigger than music. It is Lagos, it’s street royalty, it’s our story, our hustle, our heritage turned global. What we see as everyday in Nigeria deserves to sit on the world’s biggest stages.

This is not nostalgia. This is reinvention. This is me carrying my roots into the future.

My album Fuji, is a celebration of the music, the culture, and every Lagos boy who dreams beyond the city.

This cover is more than an image, it’s a statement.

Oct 3rd.

X Neitezen community responded on the post highlighting the statement Fuji is bigger than music and belongs to Lagos perceived as a bigot statement since Fuji is only just but a genre of music ( Fújì ) a Yoruba popular music that emerged in Nigeria in the 1960s!! They also Pointed out his mistake on owambe written as owanbe which was basically a typo error.
