ALLEGATION OF SET-UP AND ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT : A DISTURBING EXPERIENCE INVOLVING HON. AKIN FASAE AND SENATOR CYRIL FASUYI
By Comrade Idowu Afuye
In the interest of truth, justice, and personal safety, I feel compelled to share a disturbing and deeply personal experience that threatens not only my life but the peace and unity of our party and state. This is not just a political issue, but a matter of human rights, betrayal, and a brazen abuse of trust and influence.
On a particular evening around 8:30 PM, I received a phone call from Hon. Akin Fasae, a man I had always respected as a father figure and a senior stakeholder within our political structure. He requested to see me urgently at his residence in GRA, but I explained to him that due to the time and my health condition, it was not advisable for me to be out that late.
However, he insisted and pleaded with me, stating that the issue he wanted to discuss was extremely urgent and couldn’t wait. Out of respect and loyalty to him, I agreed to see him but suggested a location closer to my residence. He then proposed we meet at the home of Rt. Hon. Olugboyega Aribisogan, located in Housing Area, Afao Road — a place familiar and close to me.
Unknown to me, this was a trap.
Before our meeting commenced, Mr. Dayo, Personal Assistant to Senator Cyril Fasuyi, was seen bringing Hon. Akin Fasae to the location. Shortly after dropping him off, Mr. Dayo left under the pretext of going to buy fuel. I would later learn that he allegedly left to mobilize the men who were meant to execute a planned assassination on me that very night.
By divine intervention and sheer instinct, I invited Rt. Hon. Aribisogan to step out and join the discussion. His unexpected presence seemed to have altered the plan. Had he not been physically present at that moment, I believe without doubt that my life would have ended that night, and Hon. Akin Fasae would have dragged Rt. Hon. Aribisogan into false accusations and public disgrace.
Let it be clearly stated:
No money-related discussions ever occurred between me and Hon. Akin Fasae or Senator Cyril Fasuyi.
I have not called or messaged Senator Cyril Fasuyi since 2024.
All the bitter criticisms and accusations I ever heard about Senator Fasuyi came directly from Hon. Akin Fasae himself.
It was Hon. Fasae who came to my office lamenting that the Senator had not done anything significant except for roofing some houses and purchasing furniture. It was he who alleged that Senator Fasuyi is receiving over N2 billion in constituency allocations, while only paying a small hospital bill for him (Akin Fasae) and giving less than N1.3 million to Rt. Hon. Aribisogan. It was this same Hon. Akin Fasae who pushed me to openly challenge the Senator to publish his achievements — citing the visible accomplishments of lawmakers like Hon. Akinlayo Kolawole and Hon. Akin Rotimi as worthy benchmarks.
After the failed assassination attempt, the next phase of the plot was swiftly activated. I was kidnapped, and all my phones were seized, cutting me off from my family, legal representation, and the outside world. Then I was taken to court under a “Form K” a known legal ploy used to ensure remand as a means to keep me out of circulation permanently.
The intent behind all these evil machinations was clear: to silence me, tarnish my name, and destroy me simply because I refused to be used for political propaganda and refused to betray the truth.
I speak out today not out of fear, but out of conviction. This is not just about me it’s about what our politics is becoming, and how people with genuine intentions are being hunted by those who see power as a tool of oppression.
Let the world know, and let those who stand for justice rise to this call. I demand an open, transparent investigation into this grievous matter, and I urge every peace-loving citizen, civil rights group, and security institution to look into this situation before it is swept under the carpet.
I am alive today by the grace of God and the unexpected presence of a third party. I will not keep quiet.
