Tinubu Never Made Buhari President – Boss Mustapha

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has denied President Bola Tinubu’s earlier statement that he was the one who helped Muhammadu Buhari become President in 2015.

Speaking publicly for the first time since Tinubu made the claim in 2022, when he was still a presidential hopeful, Mustapha said the merger that brought together different political parties at the time only contributed about three million extra votes.

According to him, Buhari already had a strong support base of about 12 million votes from the North before the alliance.

Mustapha’s response comes amid ongoing conversations around who played what role in the 2015 general elections that brought Buhari into power.

He noted that Buhari’s victory was largely due to his popularity among northern voters and not solely the outcome of the political alliance.
