The tragic death of a 35-year-old woman, Margaret Archibong, a Nursing Officer, has stirred heartbreak and anger.

According to sources, she was “beaten brutally,” a final act of violence that led to her untimely and painful death.

Close family sources familiar with the heartbreaking ordeal told SaharaReporters that Margaret was rushed to the General Hospital in Igando in a desperate attempt to save her life — but it was too late.

Before her death, Margaret had allegedly endured years of abuse at the hands of the man she once trusted. Close friends and family sources told SaharaReporters that she bore her pain quietly.

In one instance, she was said to have ingested pesticide in a bid to end her life.

“Last year, she drank pesticide and had to be rushed to the hospital. She was pregnant then and had to be given six pints of blood to survive,” one of the sources said.

“Her reason was the frustration she faced at home. She said then that there was nothing she would do which her husband would be pleased with, so it was better to end it all.

“Margaret was rushed into the General Hospital at Igando, but was dead by the time she was brought in.”

The tragic impact of her passing is intensified by the details surrounding it. According to sources, the young woman lost her life following a series of violent incidents at the hands of her husband.

“She was first rushed to the General Hospital at Igando, but due to the kind of questions they asked her husband, he decided to take her to a private hospital,” a source said.

SaharaReporters gathered that at the private hospital, the staff asked her husband standard medical questions to aid in treating her.

But instead of cooperating, he allegedly grew uncomfortable and chose to move the dying woman again — this time to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

Sadly, she was later brought back to the General Hospital in Igando, where she was declared dead on arrival.

It was gathered that while she made attempts to leave the marriage, her church advised her to keep praying and stay in the marriage.

“Her husband beat her on the day she finally gave up. They had a quarrel and he beat her mercilessly, which led to her being rushed to the hospital, but she did not survive,” a source privy to the incident told SaharaReporters.

Another source, overwhelmed with grief, confided in SaharaReporters how deeply the abuse affected Margaret’s spirit and how she suffered in silence.

“She really suffered in silence and did not speak up,” the source said.

The emotional toll extends beyond her immediate family. Margaret’s three young children have now been left without their mother — their lives forever altered.

Attempts by SaharaReporters to reach the husband of the deceased woman for comment were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
