2027: Tinubu Planning to Relocate Nigeria’s Capital

A former APC chieftain, Timi Frank, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may be planning to relocate Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos if re-elected in 2027.

According to reports, Frank claimed the move is part of what he described as a “Lagos-centric agenda”, accusing the current administration of concentrating political and economic power in Lagos.

He further argued that several government actions, including appointments and development projects, appear to favour Lagos over other regions, warning that such a direction could deepen national division.

However, there is no official confirmation from the Presidency or any government policy supporting plans to relocate the nation’s capital from Abuja, which has been Nigeria’s seat of power since 1991.

The claim has sparked political reactions and debate, especially as discussions around the 2027 general elections begin to gain momentum.

Observers note that the allegation remains unverified and politically driven, as no formal proposal or legislative move has been presented to support such a major national shift.
