2027: Enough Is Enough — Youth Coalition Demands Real-Time Electronic Transmission of Results
The Nigerian Youth Unions Government (Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria) has issued a strong call for electoral reforms ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that Nigerians must insist on transparency, accountability, and the mandatory real-time electronic transmission of election results.
In a statement signed and released to Newsmen by its President, Amb. Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel, GCONY, the youth coalition criticized the 10th National Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, over what it described as a failure to fully represent the will of the Nigerian people on critical electoral reforms.
According to the group, the refusal to enshrine mandatory real-time electronic transmission of election results into law undermines public trust in Nigeria’s democracy.
They argue that in an era driven by digital innovation, elections must reflect transparency through technology that ensures votes are counted and transmitted without manipulation.
The coalition insists that Nigerians deserve an electoral system where results are uploaded electronically and verifiable in real time, eliminating delays and alleged irregularities that often trail manual processes.
The group warned that the stance of lawmakers on electoral reforms could galvanize widespread civic mobilization ahead of 2027.
