20-Year-Old Arrested  for Smuggling Cannabis into Prisoners’ Bread”

A 20-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to supply inmates with cannabis concealed inside bread in Kano.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano State Command, has disclosed that its officers at the Gwauron Dutse Correctional Centre arrested a young man for attempting to give cannabis to inmates in the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Kano by the NCoS spokesperson, CD Musbahu Lawan K/Nassarawa, the suspect, identified as Muhammad Kabir of Hotoro Tishama area, was arrested with cannabis hidden inside loaves of bread.

According to CSC K/Nassarawa, the suspect was apprehended at the premises of the Kano State High Court while attempting to pass the cannabis to inmates who had been brought to court for trial.

The spokesperson added that the Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Kano State, Ado Inuwa, has directed that the suspect be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
