……..As Adavi Chairman promises clamdown on kidnappers, criminals
No fewer than ten suspected kidnappers that have been terrorizing lokoja – Okene road in kogi state have been nabbed at Irepeni, Adavi local government area by the Kogi state branch of the hunters group of Nigeria (HGN).
In a press briefing by the chairman of Adavi local government area today Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami said the the kidnappers stopped two buses sometimes last week at about 3pm and took away 17 persons inside the thick Forrest.
According to him, the authority alerted the hunters Group and they embarked on search mission to rescue the victims made up of males, females and children.
The Chairman further revealed that an average of 5 persons are kidnapped everyday along Adavi,-Okene road raising concerns on its security status.
“The Hunters Group arrested 10 kidnappers and rescued 17 victims which includes eight women, ‘four children and five men. Most of the men who were rescued are seriously injured by the heartless kidnappers and presently receiving treatment in a private Clinic in the state
Hon. Omuya also disclosed that the ten kidnappers who were arrested in a thick forest at Irepene, after series of operations are aged between 18 and 30,
It was gathered that some of the suspects are Fulanis and Hausas from the northern states, while others came from Niger Republic.
When contacted the kogi state police command Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP William Ayah said he was yet to receive any information, saying that he has been out of the state.
